CEBUDDY is built to know as little about you as possible.

What we don't collect

No account, email, phone number, real name, photo, or location.

What exists temporarily

While you use CEBUDDY, a random session ID, your chosen username and interest, and your current match exist only in short-lived memory so matchmaking works. They are discarded when you leave or after a period of inactivity.

Messages

Messages are delivered in realtime and are not stored as chat history. When a chat ends, it's gone.

Reports and bans

If you report a chat, we record that a report happened so we can keep CEBUDDY safe. A moderator can ban the reported person for a limited time. To make a ban stick, your browser keeps a random device ID in a cookie, and we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your network address — never the address itself. Neither identifies you personally, and bans expire automatically.

Service providers

Realtime delivery is provided by Ably and hosting by Vercel, who process data to run the service.
